ThinGap Corporation ANNOUNCES: Contact: Bob Thomas 818.761.8405 bob.thomas@graphicstar.com VENTURA, CALIFORNIA – SEPTEMBER 13, 2005 - ThinGap Corporation, the leader in high power density DC motors, announced the appointment of Rean Pretorius as CEO and president. Pretorius joined ThinGap in April, 2005 as vice president business development and was responsible for leading the company’s world-wide business development efforts. Pretorius reports directly to the directors and is responsible for focusing sales and marketing efforts to yield the best results based on the company’s current technology offering. “ThinGap has developed and patented an amazing technology for increasing power density and therefore reducing power consumption,” says Pretorius. “We are targeting markets that have to maximize the use of power, such as battery operated applications. We already have major contracts to provide pump and compressor motors for such medical industry applications as oxygen concentrators. Additionally, we have successfully completed our first contract with DARPA for developing ring motors used in unmanned ground, air and underwater vehicles and are working through a second contract.” The ThinGap technology eliminates magnet wire and iron laminations in the stator while incorporating a rotor containing the entire magnetic circuit as it rotates. This eliminates power loss caused by hysteresis, cogging torque and radial deflection. In combination with high-energy neodymium-iron-boron magnets, the thin wall of the stator coil allows a miniature air gap, which creates a high power density motor, with excellent characteristics for battery-powered applications. Prior to joining ThinGap, Pretorius was senior vice president, global channel & alliances for DataMirror Corporation, a Toronto, Canada company, which is a leading provider of live, secure data integration software solutions that allow companies to manage and monitor their corporate data in real time. While at DataMirror, he built close relationships with customers and partners, ensuring their needs were heard and fulfilled. Additionally, Pretorius was executive vice president, worldwide sales for Vision Solutions, Inc., a solution provider for managing business-critical information availability across the enterprise. While there, he grew its customer base to over 1,800 customers in over 70 countries, with over 10,000 installations in virtually every business industry. Described as hard driving, energetic and sincere, Pretorius was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. He graduated from Stellenbosch University and holds a baccalaurus degree in Economics and Finance, as well as a MBA from the University of South Africa. About ThinGap
